Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
falling injurious corrosive, hot black liquor while working and
traveling on the 3rd floor of No. 1 recovery boiler under the
economizer hopper in the power house.  The economizer hopper
overflows on the upper grated floor and falls to the 3rd floor
without warning.  Exposure to hot black liquor can cause severe
burns, respiratory tract irritation, and can cause blindness.

Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct
this hazard is to design, construct and install larger spill pans
to contain the largest possible spill.

under the green liquor clarifier test sampling port.  Green liquor spill
from dipper during sampling overhead and could fall on employees causing
eye and skin irritation, and respiratory irritation.
Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard
is to design, construct and install a spill pan to contain spills.
