Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a recognized hazard of electric shock or burns: (a)M/V Woodbine: In the machine shop, temporary wiring was used for permanent wiring on the four feet fluorescent lighting. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to hard wire the fluorescent lights. (b)M/V Woodbine: In the electric shop, the cover was missing on a four-inch junction box. This condition exposed employees to electrocution or burns. Among other methods, one economical and feasible method of abatement is to replace the cover. (c)M/V Woodbine: In the engine room, the electrical junction box was missing the cover. This condition exposed employees to electrical shock in event of accidental contact with live wires. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the cover. (d)M/V Woodbine: In the dry storage area, the main power panel has a broken hinge and a knockout missing. This condition exposed employees to possible electrical shock or burns. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to replace the hinge and install snap in. (e)M/V Woodbine: In the reefer flat room, the 480-volt side panel box had the clamp and knock out missing.
