Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: %% The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injuries due to hoist failure: (a)Mixing department; an inspection and preventative maintenance program based upon manufacturer's recommendations with dated and detailed written records was not established. 1.Pendant control station function buttons on the 2 ton chain hoist were not kept legible. Feasible and useful methods applicable in these circumstances include the use of signed checklists of hoist inspections and maintenance procedures. Pendant control function Illegible labels must be replaced with those that can be read.
