Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of repetitive motion stressors while assembling printed circuit boards in the circuit board assembly department. The following condition contributed to the existence of the hazard; work stations were not ergonomically designed. a) Circuit board assembly department: Employees assembling printed circuit boards for liquid monitoring equipment were exposed to repetitive motion, neck and upper back injuries due to the unavailability of proper ergonomic work stations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is: a) provide employees with adjustable chairs; b) provide employees with correct table heights; c) provide circuit board stations with tilted work stations; d) enlist the expertise of an ergonomist for redesign and employee training; e) develop ergonomic tools for pre-packaging dept. to prevent the repetitive wrist motion;ive
