Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from tripping hazards while riding a moving conveyor: a) On or about 4/12/93, employees were riding the conveyor belt on the baler machine sorting cardboard and non-cardboard items. there is a great potential for tripping/slipping on the cardboard and the 3" riser on the conveyor belt. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to redesign the belt conveyor and provide handling tools to employees. THE A.C.C. RECYCLING CORP., WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 5(a)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 106498744, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1, ISSUED ON 1/8/93, AND BECAME A FINAL ORDER OF THE OSHA REVIEW COMMISSION ON 2/8/93.
