Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falls from elevators: (a) 40th floor, east side, where an employee was installing wire rope at the roof edge 29 feet above an adjacent roof, with no fall pro- tection, on or about 5/14/92. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the utilization of safety belts, lanyards, and lifelines. THE DIXIE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC., WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 5(a)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 106494289, CITATION NUMBER 01, ITEM NUMBER 001, ISSUED ON 3/4/92, AND BECAME A FINAL ORDER OF THE OSHA REVIEW COMMISSION ON 4/1/92.
