Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the over-pressurization/explosion of the retread tire
chamber:
(a)  Shop; the Cedco Retread Pressure Chamber, Model 2504A.  On or about
January 5, 2007, an employee sustained eye and ear (hearing) injuries when
the
retread chamber exploded due to over-pressurization.  The employer failed
to
operate the machine and perform maintenance in accordance with the
manufacturer's recommendations, potentially causing the explosion.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO FOLLOW THE OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS LISTED IN THE CEDCO INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
