Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) On or about, and at times prior to January 14, 1997, employees of the Melroe Company were exposed to hazards created by water leaking through the roof into work areas in the facility known as "building #10". In addition to water accumulations on the floor that were causing the potential for slips and falls, water that was dripping from overhead light fixtures was splashing onto welding equipment causing the potential for electrical shock to employees who were using that equipment. Among others, a feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct these hazards would be to take whatever action is necessary to eliminate the entry of water into the work areas.
