General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees were exposed to the hazards of falls while working in an extensible boom aerial lift at the front of The Sports Authority job site. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide and ensure the use of appropriate fall protection in accordance with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5- 1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Work Platforms and, A. Front of store. Employees worked from extensible boom aerial lift without any fall arrest. B. Front of store. Grove aerial lift maximum capacity was exceeded by 3 employees in basket at one time. A feasible means of abatement would be as follows: 1. Provide fall arrest equipment and assure its proper use. 2. Follow manufactures guidelines through training of employees.
