Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation: Production area at Denison Hydroilic Multipress Company #P85, the machine operator holds the actuating lever and/or controls with their knee(s) while reaching for the stop button during set up operations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to instruct and adequately train the operators in the safe method of work before allowing operation of any hydraulic power press covered by ANSI B11.2 - 1982 and ensure by adequate supervision that correct operating procedures are being followed. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation: Production area - The following hydraulic presses had press control systems that were not designed to require continuous pressure from both hands while there was a hazard at the point of operation: a. Denison Hydroilic Multipress - Company # P85 b. Denison Hydroilic Multipress - Company # P307 c. Denison Hydroilic Multipress - Company # 443 d. Denison Multipress - Company # 128 e. Denison Hydroilic Multipress - Company # P40 Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a hydraulic press control system designed to require continuous pressure from both hands while there is a hazard at the point of operation in accordance with the requirements contained in ANSI B11.2-1982 DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
