Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a serious fall hazard: (a) Location - 240 Independence Way, Danvers, MA: On or about 3/23/99, an employee was exposed to a serious fall hazard of 32 feet while climbing over the guardrails of the Skyjack scissors lift onto the roof's parapit wall Among other methods, feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to: 1. Read and follow the operator's manual guidelines for safe use. 2. Use stairs provided within the building.
