Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to 400 to 500 degree F metal parts of equipment. a- 68 County Line Rd., Foam Production Area: "Accumulators" and "rack nozzles" heated to 400 to 500 degrees F, and located on platforms at approx. 9 feet from the floor 1- Machine Line #1 - Custom Built 1967-1968 2- Machine Line #2 - "Hanisin" Built 1967-1968 3- Machine Line #3 and #4 - 'EEMCO' Built 1973-1974 a1- 400 to 500 degree F metal parts of equipment were not guarded, insulated or provided with other approved means to prevent employee exposure during foam removing/cleaning operations. Reference: ANSI/SPI B151.21.1986 Section 5.3.6, 5.3.7, 6.3.6 and 6.3.7. Reference: National Safety Council 1-632 Reaf 88 Para. 11, Page 2. a2- Tools used to remove/clean excess foam were not adequate, in that, they were not long enough to reach the required areas and prevent employees from being exposed to the 400 to 500 degree F metal parts.
