Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a potential crushing injury from a falling roof unit: (a)Ceiling Building Area - One (1) employee applying masking tape to drywall seams worked under a suspended roof unit which weighed approximately 3200 pounds. The load was suspended overhead by three (3) CM two (2) ton hoists. (b)Ceiling Building Area - Employee(s) positioning and taping drywall worked under the edge of a suspended load which weighed approximately 3200 pounds. The load was suspended by three (3) CM two (2) ton hoists. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to eliminate working under the suspended load. VERIFICATION REQUIRED
