Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of severe burns or death from super heated steam and/or explosions from molten metal coming into contact with water and/or damp sand. On March 4, 1994 employees poured molten metal from the west 45 ton induction furnace over a runout pit which contained water and wet sand. Cooling water from an inductor cooling line was leaking into the pit. One feasible means of abating this hazard is to cease pouring operations until the leak is repaired and the water and wet sand is removed from the
