Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)In the back and front warehouses, employees were exposed to falls of 15-18 feet when using hi-lift order pickers without using proper safety belts when accessing overhead conveyor, on or about 4/12/96. (b)In the back and front warehouses, employees were exposed to falls of up to 18 feet when using fork trucks without proper safety platform when selecting cartons of wines and liquors, on or about 3/19/96. Feasible and acceptable methods among others to correct the hazard are to: 1.Use proper safety platform when elevating personnel, secured to the lifting carriage and/or forks which meets the requirements of ANSI B56.1-1975 Part II - 427A and 427C. 2.Enforce the use of safety belts at all times when utilizing pickers.
