Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the elevator door was openable when the car was not at the landing creating a fall hazard to employees on the second floor: (a)On or about 4/02/2007, second floor office area, employees opening the elevator door were exposed to a fall hazard of up to eight feet because the lock was not operating allowing the door to open when the elevator was not at the landing. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Feasible abatement would be to service the elevator to ensure that the door is not openable when the car is not at the landing.
