North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to
each of his employees condition of employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to:
a)Migrants exposed to live electrical wires, in kitchen and
front porch areas as electric light fixtures have exposed
and uninsulated wiring present. In addition the
refrigerator in kitchen does not have a proper path to
ground resulting in migrants exposure to electricity
during routine acts such as food preparation.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method
of abatement to correct these hazards is to correctly
install light fixtures in kitchen and front porch,
and install new electrical cord on refrigerator with
three prong grounding type plug. Employer should conduct
weekly inspection to ensure proper electrical maintenance
in camp.enance
