Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: %% The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that nurses and other health care providers were exposed to the hazard of being infected with tuberculosis in that potentially exposed employees were not screened every six months. Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard as re- commended by the Centers for Disease Control, among others, are: SCREENING OF EMPLOYEES BY ADMINISTERING THE MANTOUX SKIN TEST EVERY SIX MONTHS FOR EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE EXPOSURE TO POTENTIAL TB PATIENTS OR ARE INVOLVED IN HIGH RISK PROCEDURES SUCH AS BRONCHOSCOPY AND SPUTUM INDUCTION.
