Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not adequately trained in the recognition and avoidance of safety hazards associated with working with a robot system such as, but not limited to, rotating parts, pinch points, component malfunctions, and hazards of stored energy: a. Shell Department P2 Room - The robot system operators were not all adequately trained in the recognition and avoidance of safety hazards associated with the robot system. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is follow the training recommendations contained in either an applicable safety standards such as the American National Standard R15.06-1986 for Industrial Robots and Robot Systems--Safety Requirements or the training recommendations contained in the equipment manual from the manufacturer.
