General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of crushing, being struck by, and being pinned by the moving robot: a.) A portion of the barrier guard on the robotic machinery, Shell Department, was removed and not replaced exposing a 3 foot 5 inch wide opening at the back side of the of the barrier enclosure. One means of abatement among others, would be to comply with American National Standards Institute, ANSI, R15.06 - 1992, by replacing the missing portion of the barrier guard and thus re-enclosing the robot system to prevent any employee from unauthorized entry into the restricted area.
