Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Old House- Employees are exposed to a potential fall hazard due to the car dropping approximately 3 inches when the rider enters the car and a dog leg in the cable for the manlift. One feasible means of abatement would be to repair the hoisting system and replace the cable. b)Annex- Employees are exposed to a potential fall hazard due to manlift needing a governor and cage manlift drive unit. One feasible means of abatement would be to implement corrective actions of the items noted on the Manlift Service Report. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.ion

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Old House- Employees were exposed to a potential struck by hazard due to the microswitch for the door in the car and the microswitch on the safety door on the top floor not functioning. One feasible means of abatement would be to fix the inoperable microswitches. b)Annex- Employees were exposed to a potential struck by hazard due to the door of the lift not being equipped with a microswitch. c)Annex- Employees were exposed to a potential struck by hazard due to guarding not being provided around the base of the manlift on the ground floor to protect employees from the descending lift. One feasible means of abatement would be to install guarding around the manlift on the ground floor. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.ion
