TITLE: GENERAL DUTY CLAUSE SECTION 5a1 SAVE: Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of chemical and thermal burns: BASKET SANITIZING AREA: THE EMPLOYER FAILED TO FURNISH EMPLOYMENT AND A PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT WHICH WERE FREE FROM RECOGNIZED HAZARDS THAT WERE CAUSING OR LIKELY TO CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS PHYSICAL HARM TO EMPLOYEES, IN THAT EMPLOYEES WERE EXPOSED TO THE HAZARD OF CHEMICAL AND THERMAL BURNS. WHILE DILUTING SANITATION CHEMICALS, WITHOUT THE PROTECTION OF ALL THE REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: FACE SHIELDS AND CHEMICALLY IMPERVIOUS APRONS. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD OF ABATEMENT TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO ENSURE THE USE OF FACE SHIELDS AND BODY APRONS IN ADDITION TO SAFETY GLASSES AND CHEMICALLY RESISTANT GLOVES, ALREADY IN USE.
