(b) Storage racks located in the old assembly area, west of vertical support #20 were not secured by bolting to the floor. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by or crushed by falling objects associated with collapse or failure of storage racks: (a) Materials were allowed to be placed on storage racks located outdoors, north of the "north shop" area, without determining the weight of the material and the rated load capacity of the racks. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement includes the employer developing a method of determining the weight capacity of the racks as well as a method of determining the weight of materials being placed on the racks to ensure the holding capacity of the rack is not exceeded. Note: This company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in the following inspection, #300242591 dated June 8, 2000. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by or crushed by falling objects associated with collapse or failure of storage racks: (a) A damaged leg on the storage rack located in building number ten used for storage of press dies was compromising the structural integrity of the rack. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement includes the employer developing a method of storage rack inspection and removal from service of any storage racks found to be damaged. Note: This company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in the following inspection, #300242591, dated June 8, 2000. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
