Feasible methods of abatement: Train employees on employer's fire ground accountability procedures including but not limited to: 1)Initial training and periodic refreshers to ensure knowledge and functioning of the fire ground accountability system.ability

31-372-101 Section 31-370(a) of the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being infected with tuberculosis. Location: A)Branford Fire Department. 1)An effective tuberculosis control program had not been established. Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard in accordance with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which must be implemented include, but are not limited to: a)Medical surveillance (at no cost to the employee) including preplacement evaluation, administration and interpretation of tuberculosis Mantoux skin tests, and periodic evaluations. Surveillance shall be offered to employees as follows: 1)Initial baseline screening at the time of employment. 2)Annually. b)Training and information to ensure employee knowledge of such issues as the hazard of tuberculosis transmission, signs and symptoms, medical surveillance and therapy, and site specific protocols including the purpose and proper use of controls. c)Ensure all EMS vehicles have adequate respiratory protection against tuberculosis.
