Feed Mill - The deck plates of the catwalk above corn tanks #3 and #4 were
heavily
corroded and had visible holes.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to replace the defective deck plates.ve

In the following instances catwalk support towers were not properly
steadied or
reinforced:
a)Feed Mill, Corn Bin #8 - The wire-rope guy on the end tower of the
elevated
catwalk was unraveled and sagging.
b)Feed Mill - Most of the wire-rope clamps on the guy wires of the catwalk
towers
were installed improperly and in insufficient numbers.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to replace wire-rope guys, install new wire-rope clamps, and properly
position wire-rope clamps.

the
hoisting doors were opened.
b)Brooder Barn 3 - The elevator car was not enclosed to prevent contact
with the
shear points in the hoist-way.
c)Brooder Barn 3 - The elevator car safety device was not routinely
checked.
d)Brooder Barn 4 - The hoist-way landing chain rails were not erected when
the
hoisting doors were opened.
e)Brooder Barn 4 - The elevator car was not enclosed to prevent contact
with the
shear points in the hoist-way.
f)Brooder Barn 4 - The elevator car safety device was not routinely
checked.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to prohibit employees from riding the elevators, annually inspect the
elevator car safety device,
and operate the elevators from outside the hoist-way using the pendant
control.

correct this hazard is
to mount a spark arrestor on the tractor's exhaust system.  Spark
arrestors are designed to
prevent sources of ignition from leaving the vehicles exhaust system.

d)Hatchery - The ceiling light in the mens room was not adequately
supported and
was hanging.
e)Hatchery, Disinfectant Room - The face plate on the switch box located
at the
rear of the washer was bent so as to break the watertight seal.

to install approved gaskets, covers, hangers, connectors, and fittings.
