Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: (a) Location - Second Floor Bakery Area: On or about 8/6/97, no means was provided to prevent the opening of the second floor door to the incline lift (no identification number) while the lift was on the first floor. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to provide an interlock that prevents the opening of the second floor lift door unless the lift is at that level.
