Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to: The hazard of being struck by falling metal parts from
the overhead trolley
conveyor in the unloading area of the paint line.
"AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE
ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS...."
1.  Ensure that the requirements of the latest version of AMSE B20.1 are
followed. These may
include but are not limited to: Ensuring through engineering controls,
periodic inspection, repair
and/or removal, that hooks, and carriers used to support loads on the
overhead conveyor system
are not misshapen, broken, damaged, worn or have excessive paint build up
which would make
the load being supported unstable or more inclined to fall when starting
and stopping the
conveyor, or when being removed from the hooks.
2.  Provide prominent, clear and legible warnings which will warn
employees and restrict
unauthorized personnel from entering hazardous, loading, unloading, and
transfer areas.
3.  Paint lines on the floor clearly delineating the danger area.
4.  Ensure that both hourly and supervisory employees in the paint line
unloading area are
thoroughly trained in the proper unloading of parts, the hazards involved
in unloading the parts
and in methods to prevent the occurrence of hazards associated with
falling production or
conveyor parts.
