Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a)Fort Knox Army Base - On or about 09/08/10, employees were exposed to crushing hazards when operating riding lawn mowers without using the roll-over protection system (ROPS). One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to follow the manufacturer's operator's manual, which states: "Never operate the machine without the ROPS installed" and following warning labels on the machinery which states: "Keep Rollover Protective Structure fully extended" ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIREDATION
