Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to injuries from falling loads and/or lift parts from hydraulic lifts that were improperly maintained: At Penske Auto Center, 6460 S Hwy 85/87, Fountain, Colorado, hydraulic automotive lifts were not periodically and routinely inspected and maintained per manufacturer's recommendations, thereby exposing employees to injuries from falling loads due to damaged or improperly maintained lifts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the hydraulic lifts are inspected and maintained per manufacturer's recommendations, and in accordance with ANSI B153.1-1990. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
