Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not provide employment, and a place of employment that was free of recognized hazards in that employees were exposed to tipping/falling hazards while driving forklift trucks into a trailer with a defective landing gear. Trailer in dock #9 had a defective right rear landing gear. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM. Among others, a feasible means of abatement would be to provide: 1.Inspection of landing gear before loading trailer with a forklift. 2.Repair landing gear or support trailer with a portable jack.
