Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls of 27 feet: a) 11th and Arch Streets, Tower Crane - An employee was exposed to a fall of 27 feet while climbing a ladder between the second and third platforms under the crane cab. This portion of ladder was not equipped with a cage or a ladder climbing safety device. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to install a cage or a ladder climbing safety device. NOTE: ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
