Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a burn and/or explosion hazard: a) Power House - An employee cleaning floors was splashed with "Hot Power" (sulfuric acid, 92-95% by Wt.) and received chemical burns. Should the sulfuric acid have come in contact with finely divided combustible materials or metal, a fire and/or explosion could have resulted as stated in the MSDS sheet, 5. Fire Fighting Measures, Other Fire or Explosion Hazards. On or about 04-04- 00. Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require and enforce the use of secured lids for all containers of "Hot Power" while in storage.rs
