Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by a vehicle. a)Waste Management Station Yard: An employees assigned to remove a tarp from a truck was struck by a moving truck tractor, on or about 6/1/00. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others to correct this hazard, are to ensure that management personnel, and other employees obey the company's traffic safety rules, policies, traffic controls, and instructions as needed; as follows 1.Ensure that drivers are made aware of the hazards of driving close to other personnel while loading and unloading materials. 2.Ensure that employees wear high visibility safety vests when working near any moving trucks in the area.
