General-duty citation text
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)shop, welding area two web lanyards with a Crosby 2ton hooks were used on the Spanco 2ton hoist; one hook had a bent spring latch, the other hook was missing a spring latch, and no records of hook inspections were performed. One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to provide monthly inspection of hooks with signed reports. b)shop, load test and certificate were not conducted and maintained for the 2ton Spanco hoist and the Jet 1ton hoist. One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to tests load with no more than 125percent of the rated load unless otherwise recommended by the manufacturer.
