Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer failed to provide a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a. Employees working from the Snorkelift TB 60 extensible boom supported aerial lifts at the I-55 Project were exposed to possible injuries while standing atop the mid rails of the basket or, in some cases, with one leg out of the basket. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI 92.5-1980) Standard for Boom-Supported Elevated Work Platforms requires that personnel maintain a firm footing on the platform.
