Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:     The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees
were exposed to:
Plant/Yard Area - Powered industrial (machines) trucks were not withdrawn
from service until
restored to proper operating condition, in that,
1/  'PC300 Komatsu' Excavator
a/  Head lights are burned out.
2/  'WA500 Front Loader'
a/  Right front light is broken again.
3/  'Caterpillar #988'
a/   The rear windshield wiper is missing.
b/   The right handrail is loose.
c/  The (first) left front head light is blown out.
d/  No guard on windshield.
e/  The backup alarm operates in the forward and backward driving
positions.
4/  CAT826 Compactor
a/  The windshield is broken again.
b/  Headlights are broken.
Observed 10/5/01.
One feasible and acceptable method to abate this condition is to have all
of the machines (trucks)
repaired immediately, and/or removed from service until restored to proper
operating condition.
