Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:04/07/00 Location:Battery Maintenance Department Condition:A self-contained emergency eyewash station was covered with dust, dirt and cobwebs, and not kept full to provide 15 minutes of flushing in an emergency. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to keep the eyewash clean and full, maintain it in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, and inspect it regularly. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
