Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to dangers when purging natural gas lines: A.) On or about 7-18-01, at the YMCA job site, the employer did not provide safety training to employees prior to assigning employees to purge gas lines. Employees were not instructed in the hazardous properties of natural gas or safety precautions to take prior to working with natural gas.
