Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed between the two sections of a recently manufactured mobile home as one section was moved forward away from the other section: (a) Plant number one, yard area. On or about July 20, 2001 employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed between the two sections of a double wide mobile home as one section was being moved forward and the other section remained stationary. There were no written or set procedures for the employees to follow while doing this task. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method would be to develop and implement written procedures detailing the process to be followed when moving sections of the mobile homes to include a method to ensure that no employee is exposed to crushing injuries before the home is moved. Employees shall also be thoroughly trained in the process and procedures.
