Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of biological diseases:
a)  Location - Establishment:
On or about June 13, 2002, employees were exposed to potential biological
infections or
conditions from pets for retail sale.
Among other methods, feasible means of abatement would be:
1)  Develop and implement an exposure control program that considers all
pets as having
the potential to expose employees to serious biological hazards.
2)  Training of employees about the etiology and transmission of
applicable biological
hazards.
3)  Training of employees about proper work practices, hygiene, and
necessary
personal
protective equipment.
