North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to electricity: a)breakroom: the duplex outlet, supplying 125 Vac and 15 amp to the counter top microwave oven - s/n, m/n unknown - was located approximately 24" from the sink and was not GFCI protected. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to replace the duplex outlet with a GFCI duplex outlet as required by NEC 1999, section 210-8, paragraph (a)(7).
