Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling 22 feet: A) Warehouse area, 314 Rt 15 S. Wharton, NJ Employee failed to maintain firm footing upon the platform floor while working as required by ANSI/SIA A92.6-1990. Employee was working from a temporary shelf on a Jenco JRX-19 elevated work platform, which placed him above the upper guardrails of the elevated platform and exposed the employee to a 22 ft. fall hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to remove all materials or devices that an employee could use to stand on while upon the elevated work platform. Violation was observed on or about 02/13/01
