Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire from the ignition of aluminum powder and isopropyl alcohol filter cake: a)Mixer 3 Room: An employee loading the mixer with N733A aluminum and isopropyl alcohol filter cake was burned when the material ignited, on or about 06/17/2002. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the static electricity control measures outlined in NFPA 651- 1998 (Machining and Finishing of Aluminum and the Production and Handling of Aluminum Powder).
