THE CITATIONS ISSUED ON MAY 28, 2002, ARE HEREBY AMENDED TO READ: Section 50-9-5(A), NMSA 1978 (New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Act): Every employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees. Pipe rack holding pipe to be used in the drilling process was not chocked on the end exposing employees to struck by hazards. One feasible and acceptable method included but is not limited to installing chocks at the ends of the racks as indicated below: Unchocked pipe racks is contrary to Section 9.12.3 of the Recommended Practice for the Occupational Safety for Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Servicing Operation of the American Petroleum Institute which states: Provisions should be made to prevent pipe from accidentally rolling off pipe racks or pipe trucks.
