Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:05/13/02 Location:Aluminum Grinding and Buffing Booth Area Condition:Employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards from the accumulation of combustible aluminum dust fines while grinding and buffing parts for cars such as the front grill. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to NFPA 65 Standard for the Machining and Finishing of Aluminum and the Production and Handling of Aluminum Powder. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
