Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of thermal and chemical burns: (a) Location - Eat All / Project Room On or about 8/27/04, employees were exposed to hot, caustic cleaning solution during the tilting of the Lee Steam Kettle to empty it into a floor drain. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use the bottom drain unit and connected hose directly to the floor drain. (b) Location - Eat All / Project Room On or about 8/27/04, employees were exposed to thermal burns from hot food during the tilting of the Lee Steam Kettle to transfer the product. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use a hydraulic tilting mechanism.
