Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to A FALL HAZARD OF APPROXIMATELY FOURTEEN FEET: a)Paper co-mingle conveyor system, on or about 03/03/0: Employees walk on an elevated belt conveyor in a effort to clear material which has become "jammed" on the conveyor. Employees are exposed to a fall hazard of approximately fourteen feet. Among other methods, several feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard is to: 1.Prohibit employees from clearing "jams" on the elevated portions of the conveyor system or provide employees with adequate fall protection. 2.Ensure employees working on conveying systems and protected in accordance with ASME B20.1-1993.
