At the job site; shop area, employer did not test the eyewash weekly to
verify proper operation
for employees engaged in sanding, sawing and gluing wooden parts with one
side of eyewash
inoperable.  This hazard exposes employees to eye irritation  and corneal
abrasions.  Among
other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard
is to activate the
eyewash weekly to flush the lines to verify proper operation to meet the
American National
Standard Institute Standard Z358.1 for Emergency Eyewash and Shower
Equipment.
