Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that an employee
was exposed to fall hazards and struck by hazards when standing on top of
a load that was
elevated by the forks of a lift truck:
a.On or about September 12, 2003, at the east side of the building, an
employee
stood on top of a stack of exterior wood sheeting that sat on a pallet and
the forks
of a lift truck as the load was being lowered from the roof to the ground
and was
exposed to a 19 feet fall hazard.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is to ensure the safe use of a ladder to access the roof.
ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS NOT REQUIRED.
