Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
IMPRA - employees, were transiting close to two steam tables which are
used in the process to
manufacture veins and arteries.  The measures of the steam tables are 22
inches wide X 73
inches long X 36 inches height and 30 inches wide X 83 inches long X 36
inches height.  The
width of the walkway, in front of each steam tables, was 55 and 41 inches
aproximately.  The
area in front of the steam tables was not delimited with any means.  The
temperature that the
steam tables were working fluctuated from 200 to 212 degrees Farenheith
and they did not have
any protection to avoid employees, from having physical contact with hot
surfaces.  Water was
observed on the floor from boiling water of the steam tables.
Among other methods, feasibles and acceptables abatement methods to
correct this hazard are:
to place barries to avoid employees have physical contact wiht hot
surfaces or to delimited the
area or its access to avoid the transit of the employees near the steam
tables.  In addition to
provide training and retraining to employees about the hazard and what
action to follow or
realize to avoid exposition to the hazard.
Hazard:  Physical contact with hot surfaces.
IMPRA - empleados estaban transitando cerca de dos "steam tables" las
cuales
eran usadas en
el proceso de manufacturar venas y arterias.  Las medidas de los "steam
tables" son 22 pulgadas
ancho X 73 pulgadas largo X 36 pulgadas de alto y 30 pulgadas de ancho X
83 pulgadas de
largo X 36 pulgadas de altura.  El ancho del pasillo, frente a cada "steam
table" era de 55 y 41
pulgadas aproximadamente.  El area frente a los "steam table" no estaba
delimitada por ningun
medio.  La temperatura que las "steam tables" estaban trabajando fluctuaba
de 200 a 212 grados
Farenheith y no tenian proteccion para evitar que empleados, tuvieran
contacto fisico con
superficies calientes.  Agua fue observada en el piso proveniente de de
agua hirviendo de las
"steam tables".
Entre otros metodos, metodos factibles y aceptables de corregir este
riesgo son: colocar barreras
para evitar que empleados tengan contacto fisico con superficies calientes
o delimitar el area o
su acceso para evitar el transito de empleados cerca de las "steam
tables".  Ademas, proveer
adiestramiento y readiestramiento a empleados acerca del riesgo y que
accion a seguir o realizar
para evitar exposicion.
Riesgo:  Contacto fisico con superficies calientes.s
